Trouble updating macromedia flash player

Something seems to have gone wrong Okay, you downloaded the standalone installation and the Flash Player is still not working properly.
However, when I went to the download page, the download would not start, and no prompts to install an acitve X controll would appear.
Also, there was a blank box towards the top of the page.
Even though the Flash plugin is also referred to as "Shockwave Flash", it should not be confused with the Shockwave plugin that handles "Shockwave for Director" content.
That's all well and good, but we are guessing the reason you are here is that something has gone wrong.

See the file names and the details written very carefully. The installer that did work for me shows "Details" of the correct flash player version while the one you tell me that it should be shows a different version number.
Why we each have two different sets of three files, I have no idea.

The file downloaded from adobe named flashplayer26_ha_of 1175 kb, showed a version number 188.8.131.52.
